You Think You Can't... HA! They didn't...
I have always believed that there is someone out there that is less talented, less motivated, has a worse upbringing, has less money, worse friends and is still able to overcome more obstacles and become ULTRA Successful. Next time you think you CAN'T think of these people.
His teachers said he was "too stupid to learn anything." and was fired from his first two jobs for being "non-productive."
Thomas Edison's 1000 inventions came during the Panic of 1873 -- 6 years -- and the Long Depression -- 23 years.
He did not speak until he was four years-old and did not read until he was seven. His parents thought he was "sub-normal," and a teacher described him as "mentally slow, unsociable, and adrift forever in foolish dreams."
Albert Einstein survived one Long Depression, three panics and Post WWI Recession.
He failed sixth grade and was subsequently defeated in every election for public office until he (Winston Churchill) became Prime Minister at the age of 62.

How Do You Get Lucky?
Whenever I hear someone say, "They are so lucky". Or, "Some people have all the luck". I stop and wonder... Are they really lucky? Or does it have to do with more than luck why some people get what they want.
Then I recently came across a quote from Richard Branson:
“I have not been any more lucky or unlucky than anyone else. The difference is when luck came my way, I took advantage of it.”
Then there is the old adage we hear, "Luck is when opportunity meets preparation."
What I have found is you have the power to make and create your luck. Here is how...
The Formula for Getting Lucky
Preparation + Attitude + Opportunity + Action = Lucky
Let's break it down.

100% Owning Up
| You liked this pic so much on my Facebook Page I thought I post again:-) |
If I were to ask you a question...
"What percentage of shared responsibility do you have in making a relationship work?"
What would you honestly answer?
50/50? That would be too easy. Both people must be willing to share the responsibility evenly or some one's getting ripped off.
51/49?? Should you be willing to do more than the other person? Aren't relationships built on self sacrifice and generosity?
80/20??? Nope.
The answer is 100/0. Until you are ready to take 100% responsibility with zero expectation of receiving anything in return the relationship will NOT work.
Why?

Another Goal Hit...
After I sold my box, CrossFit Sioux Falls, in December 2010. I started this blog and one of the goals I set was to, "TO ESTABLISH MYSELF AS AN ONLINE FITNESS PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONALITY", you can find it on my 'About' page.
I have been featured on the CrossFit Affiliate site a number of times with a link of my popular posts. Today I have reached another goal by having my first post on a professional FITness and and Wellness site called, Breaking Muscle. Needless to say I am FLAT OUT EXCITED! Special thanks to Becca Borawski.
Here is an preview:
In today's world there is no secret to success when it comes to your health and fitness. If anything we can run into the problem of information overload. The Internet, TV, books, eBooks, magazines, and having a fitness gym on every street corner provide us with more information than we would ever need. There is no question that any intelligent person can find out exactly how to get him- or herself in the best shape possible.

The 5 Reasons Why People DONT Become Healthy...
![]() |
| Child's Pose is healthy:-) |
I talk a lot about how what you need to do and who you need to become to get yourself in the best shape you desire. Sometimes it is just as good to know what NOT to do as it is to know what to do.
Why is it that people don't become FIT?
In a country like ours, with the opportunities that we have, why is it that so few people reach their health and fitness goals? Why is America getting fatter every year? Why are more and more people signing up at gyms (i.e. globo's) but ending up quitting after a month or two?

How To Become a Highly Competent CrossFitter??
![]() |
| HCC's have great shoes... |
I believe in excellence being practiced no matter what your current skill level is. If you are an elite athlete it is a direct effect of your practice, attitude and consistency that has gotten you there. If you are are a beginner you can adopt the same traits as the best and eventually with that same practice, attitude and consistency you can not only become elite but have the potential to beat the elite. Last week I discussed the MINDSET OF THE ELITE and how they think. This week I want to show you the principles you need to adopt to become one!

How To Think To Become ELITE?
![]() |
| Taking notes on the ELITE! |
Watching the CrossFit games this past weekend was amazing, inspiring and educating. To be able to see the best of the best CrossFitters all in one room is an eye opening experience.
I have always been of the opinion that more of your success with CrossFit (and your overall life) has to do with your Mental capacity more so than your physical capacity. The way the Elite CrossFitters think is the main reason why they are the Elite.
Here are the Mental characteristics of the Elite:
-They all have a coach. It is much more productive to have someone with a third party objective to help you skip unnecessary steps and push yourself further.
-They are cool under pressure. If you were to watch their faces in the heat of competition in each event they are always in control, constantly breathing throughout the WOD and stick to their game plan.
-They are always positive. I didn't see anyone complain about a WOD, movement, weight, etc... They understand that to be the best it doesn't matter what the WOD is, how HOT is was, how HEAVY the weight is, it only matters who they are. They trust themselves, the training they have put in, their support group around them, focus on the task at hand and block out any negative thoughts!
-They have appropriate goals and expectations of their performances. CrossFit is a numbers game. They know their numbers. They know what it takes to hit those numbers. They are focused on hitting those numbers.
-They don't worry about other competitors or uncontrollable factors. They understand that they are 100% responsible for their success. Their success has about nothing to do with anything outside of them and has everything to do with everything inside of them.
